What awesome kids I have.
K started my day with a lovely lunch at a tapas restaurant with champagne to boot. Then we spent some time antiquing ( one of my favorite pasttimes) and I found three plates to add to my Pink Depression glass collection! On sale no less - 30% off! Woo Hoo for me! And K went way overboard and bought me a quilt set - all the material, pattern, etc. for a queen size and I love, love, love the material! A wonderful beginners book and a couple of quilters magazines! That's my girl she pays attention. Oh and beautiful flowers/irises and lilies - the house smells divine.
Thank you my sweet - I surely do treasure you.
T is fixing me dinner! Stir fry - yummy and he got me the cutest darn card and wrote me a lovely note inside! And we have chocolate/chocolate ice cream cake for dessert! T is such a good guy and I appreciate everything he does for me. He has a beautiful garden in, growing me all kinds of wonderful veggies! There isn't anything he wouldn't do for me. He's my other treasure for sure.
What a lucky gal I am. God has surely blessed me in some many ways!

Saturday
I love the mystery that Saturdays bring now. Never really have much of a plan nailed down, so one never knows what might develop.
Today we bought an umbrella for the patio. We really needed it. Since the patio cover was removed, it's been gettin' mighty warm in the house. The patio is on the west side of the house so the living room and kitchen really heat up in the afternoon. We got one of those big 11' cantilevered jobs! Hope it does the trick for now - eventually we will replace the patio cover with some of that newfangled vinyl! Yee-haw.........
Worked on the fence rail quilt - it's a little small, so I'm going to add sashing/borders to make it bigger.

Wash that gray away!
Visited my favorite hairdresser today - she washed all that gray away. She's the bomb, and she's got the most adorable little boys ever!
Got my sewing machine light bulb today! Yeah back in business - I can sew again. Started the "fence rail" pattern quilt. Love the fabric - wish me luck.
Yar picked up his newest toy tonite - he got himself an I-PAD. Too cool - hope he enjoys it.
Next week I'm going to work on posting some pics. Stay tuned.

If it's Cinco de Mayo it must be our anniversary!
Happy Cinco de Mayo! 37 years ago today I got married. We didn't know there was any signficiance to the date at the time. We lived in the Midwest where it's just simply May 5th!
We were surprised when we moved out west that it was a day of celebration - how appropriate for us.
I don't know where all those years went and why they went so quickly. I do know that I love my husband more today than I did the day I married him. I didn't know yet his truths and I didn't know what a truly good man he was - I just knew he loved me and I just knew I could always trust him. I knew I could talk to him and he was a good listener, back then. He's learned to tune me out pretty well now.
But what a guy he's been - he's made a lot of sacrifices for my happiness. He's given up a lot and he's been a very generous and giving man. I love ya babe - more today than yesterday!

American Idol
American Idol nite - who's the winner? I think Crystal is the most consistent but I don't think she'll win. I think it may be Lee DeWyse - he's a nice Midwestern boy but not really very exciting as an "American Idol".
Finished Stella's quilt top today, but my machine light burnt out - I knew it was going. So I've ordered one online from Sears. Measured and cut the batting and the back fabric. Not sure how
I'll get it quilted - I don't have a free motion foot for my machine and I've checked E-bay with no success. I think it may just be too old. I want a new machine, but the kinda machine I want will cost big bucks and I'm not quite ready for that.
Tomorrow is a big day! Taco/Corona nite for sure.

Day Three
Monday - day three of my blog! Wow - nothing much exciting today - went to fabric store and bought a jelly roll and some batting and a few other trinkets. Grocery shopping, laundry, fixed dinner, watered the garden, bought a couple new pots and some soil. But tomorrow - I will be in my little special place - quilting. My first quilt is for Stella / the cat! I figure she won't mind all my wonky cuts and seam lines.
Ordered Quilting for Dummies from Amazon today! That should help.
To Ta Loooo.................................
Today my parents would have been married 63 years!

Lovin' Sunday
Aaah - I remember how I used to dread Sundays! Sundays were the day you got ready for work on Monday! I really hated Sunday night - it was the end of the weekend; it meant going back to the grind on Monday morning.
Can I just say - I love Sundays now! No pressure about tomorrow, nothing to get ready for, mentally free of any stress related to going back to the grind on Monday! It is truly a wonderful way to live.
I love reading the Sunday papers - the Travel Section is my fav! I DVR CBS Sunday Mornings and mid-afternoon, if nothing else is going on - watch it.
Today we had some Internet connection trouble, so it meant Yar spent a couple hours on the phone with our service provider. Not a good thing - Yar is hard of hearing and doesn't like to wear the ole aids on weekends and the Internet Service Provider's Customer Service is in India, which meant very broken English - not a good thing for my poor ole Yar. After a bit of frustration and not so nice words and angry gestures - the Internet is up and humming nicely.
Thank you Yar..................
Ran a couple errands with my K - brought the ironing board back. Must shop this week for a new one. Also shopping for a handmixer - mine is kaput! Always something......................
Hope you had a wonderful weekend - and a gentle Sunday!
