Garden

T's garden is growing. We ate corn tonight - it didn't grow very big - he thinks he pollinated it too early but it was tender and yummy just the same.

We have lots of cukes coming and tomatoes and looks like the potatoes are doing well.
He has a new crop of corn in now - different variety - looks very vigorous and healthy.

CATCHING UP - AGAIN

I'm failing at being a daily blogger - I guess I have to lower my expectations and just be happy to be able to blog whenever I can.

SAD NEWS:
My Aunt Dorothy died last week. She was my favorite - I loved her - a lot! I'm going to miss her and it makes me very sad when I think she's not here anymore. She was very, very good to me and I loved her and was so grateful to have had her in my life. She would have turned 90 next Valentine's Day - I wish she could have hit that milestone. She's in heaven now with my mom and my dad and with Uncle Paul and all the other family that have gone before her. She's happy and in a really, really good place.

Another Catch Up - Boy - o - Boy

My goodness the days just get away from me! Just to catch up:

Had dinner with KT Thursday night - tried the new Sam's Place in downtown Brea-not so good. We won't be going back. Very limited menu - burgers, salads. We ordered chips and salsa and the chips were stale. My ice tea sat on the table with no ice for quite a while and never did the waitress offer to ice it up - I have a pet peeve about that - after all it is called "iced" tea!

Fairly quiet uneventful weekend. Did get the grout sealer and Yar sprayed my new flower box. So I bought small succulents to plant in it. Turned out nice. I'd like to try that again.

Monday did some laundry/grocery shopping. Tuesday had exam with dermatologist and had a small spot on my right arm that he did a biopsy on. One stitch and will go back in a week for results - saying a prayer it's not anything too alarming. Today, Wednesday went to perio again - have a "problem" pocket on one tooth - what's new? I am plagued with plaque issues throughout my body :-) Put some medicine in again and will re-check after my next cleaning in July.

Registered with a new dentist - old one was a problem with Yar and his teeth - so onward we go. I really like and trust my perio and he recommended this group - so we'll see.

Tonight is AI final! Hoping Mama Sox' wins!

Have ironed all the material for the queen size quilt and am ready to start cutting. This is the kit KT bought me for Mom's Day. Really, really nice material-high thread count stuff! Then I'm going to search for puppy material and make Sebastian a quilt. Seems only fair since Stella has hers now. KT says she uses it and likes it a lot - so that's good to know. (Pic at top is Stella's Quilt)

Talked to MidSis who is coming here in July with her fam. I'm very excited and am so grateful that they can come - even if it's only a week. MidSis is bringing along two of her dear friends, who I adore and I always say - the more the merrier. We will make some memories for sure.

Quilt #1

Finished my first quilt today. Learned a lot while doing it - I'd be embarrassed to have an experienced quilter look at it, but I'm still sorta proud that I finished it.

It is going to Stella the cat. We r hoping she'll leave her human momma and daddy's quilts alone and adopt this one for herself!

Reconnected with a long lost cousin on fb today! What a thrill. As I get older it's important to me to stay connected to the relatives I have - so woo hoo for me!

The mosiac tile project has finally set up enough, so tomorrow I'm planning on grouting. Standby for further! Never done this before :-)

I'll try to post a photo of Stella's quilt tomorrow!

Mosiac Tile Project

Well, T and I worked on the mosiac tile project a bit on Saturday. It was fun - he had some great ideas on how to break the ceramics I bought. I think I've learned that flat pieces, dishes, etc. work best - the curved cups and bowls are difficult to use on a flat surface. I'm waiting fot the adhesive to set up - it was rainy and damp here today (what's up with that?) so I'm going to look at for grouting tomorrow. So far I've enjoyed the process and would like to do something else. I think that garage sales would be a better way to go - getting the ceramics, etc., for cheap.

T grilled out filets Sunday nite - delicious as always. He is a fantastic griller! He put everything together - I love that.

I finished quilting and tying Stella's quilt today. Now I must tackle the binding. That has me in a bit of a muddle but I'm going to watch some you tube videos to help me out. Very disappointed the quilt class I signed up for was cancelled! :-( I was so looking forward to it, but I'll find another one.

To Catch You Up

Wow - time gets by me so unbelievably fast. To catch up a bit - I'm signed up for my Beginner's Quilting Class - starts Thursday May 20! Yippee. Have the supplies I need ready and will borrow K's rolling cart when I have to transport my sewing machine. I'm really
anxious to get started. I have a couple of quilt projects going and I love doing it.

Also started another project - mosiac tiling a planter for the patio. Went and got some cheap dishes and cups at Goodwill and T helped me get them broken down into small pieces. Will
work on that tomorrow - if all goes well - I'll post a photo.

T's garden is awesome. Will also try to get some photos to post of that tomorrow. Corn is really high, potatoes and carrots and onions and garlic dong very well. Tomatoes and cukes - yum yum! Good stuff.

Ta ta for now -

Good friends!

Went on a super fun road trip Monday. Went to Porterville, up near Bakersfield, to visit some really good friends. I worked with most of them for a long, long time and they are really, really good people. They were warm and welcoming and we had a fun day rehashing the good ole days.

We met at the Millers, what a sweet slice of heaven they have. House/barn/orchard/greenhouse all situated on a small bluff, surrounded by fields and rolling hills. We saw horses, goats, cows, heard chickens -true country living. You actually hear the river rushing, the chickens clucking, etc. etc. NO TRAFFIC NOISE - wow - what a concept.
